Teams and Role

Zamasu can currently be used on Extreme INT, “Rainbow Villains”, Realm of Gods and Potara.

Extreme INT

Finding a place on this team is very difficult, and this Zamasu has nothing in particular that can help him synergize with the rest of the units in the element; Fear and Faith and Dismal Future are not common Ki links among Extreme INT type units. In terms of utility Zamasu is not a bad unit for a mode like Super Battle Road, but anywhere else having extra healing and tanking will just make it more difficult to activate Big Bad Bosses for the main hard hitters; [Transcendent Majin] Buu (Kid) with his 12% per Super Attack is already enough for any normal event. Ideally Zamasu is a floater on Extreme INT, but the team would prefer having a unit that provides Ki support over him.

"Rainbow Villains"

Zamasu can be a solid choice as a floater on this team, taking advantage of [Punishment of Anger] Goku Black (SS Rosé)’s support Passive to further increase his ability to tank and providing some extra Ki for [Merciless Condemnation] Goku Black (SS Rose) & Zamasu thanks to Fear and Faith and Dismal Future, but, as I mentioned, this unit has the ability to heal and, even on this team, it’s actually counterproductive. The team is already really bulky due to the fact that Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) is always going to be on rotation and give everyone a 50% DEF boost and Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) & Zamasu’s Passive is usually enough to kick you out of the 80% HP threshold for Big Bad Bosses.

"Realm of Gods"

On Realm of Gods this unit can be a pretty good floater as he does link pretty well with Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) & Zamasu and Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé); healing is not particularly useful on this team either if you want to get below 50% to trigger [Super-Dimensional Instinct] Goku (Ultra Instinct -Sign-)’s transformation mechanic and you already have a unit that is going to heal 15% of your total HP on half of the turns. Zamasu doesn’t link particularly well with any of the other units on the team aside from the two Extreme types I mentioned before so he is likely to miss Super Attacks half of the times he appears on rotation.

"Potara"

Potara is another team where Zamasu can perform very well on; the higher boost to ATK is going to help make up for the lower multiplier and the low ATK boost he receives from his Passive and the unit can again link very well with the two Extreme types that are on the team, Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) & Zamasu and Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé), but as far as the other rotation goes, he is not going to share any Ki link with either [Strength Surpassing God] SS God SS Vegito or [Limitless Radiance] Super Vegito. If you completely give up on the idea of getting [Super Powered Fusion] SS Goku & SS Vegeta’s Passive to activate and having them transform into Super Vegito, then the extra healing provided by Zamasu is not going to hurt more than on any other team.

Super ATK

Supreme damage is not much as a multiplier, especially consider what this unit gets from its Passive, but a 12 Ki 145% multiplier is not bad at all; recovering a direct percentage of your total HP is the second best type of healing, especially in the current meta it’s going to equate a lot in raw numbers.

Leader Skill

An 80% boost to all stats for Extreme types is not bad at all and, even though the Leader Skill does not give any Ki, there are a lot of units that can fit under this Leader Skill that can provide Ki with their Passives to make up for that like [Rose Stained Super Saiyan] Goku Black (SS Rose) and [Explosive Battle Urge] SS God Goku. If you don’t have [Punishment of Anger] Goku Black (SS Rosé), you can still bring him as a Friend Leader and use this Zamasu as your Leader for a “Rainbow Villains” team.

Passive Skill

Zamasu starts off with a 60% ATK and DEF boost, which will gradually decrease as your HP drop, and gets an unconditional 40% damage reduction; thanks to the fact that he gets both a DEF boost and a damage reduction, he is perfectly capable of tanking hits even in Super Battle Road and even under a lower Leader Skill. The ATK boost is definitely underwhelming, especially considering the lower damage multiplier and the lack of some important ATK links for an Extreme type unit.

Link Skill

Zamasu does have Fear and Faith, which is a good Ki link for an Extreme type unit, and even Dismal Future can turn out to be useful, but the unit notably lacks Big Bad Bosses, a link that could have greatly increased his ability to tank and would have partially made up for the drop in ATK as the HP get lower.

Dabura is a support unit that can be obtained from the Baba Shop and he is one of the few good Extreme INT units with “Fear and Faith”; his support Passive gives his allies 2 Ki and has a high chance of also adding a 30% ATK and DEF boost, further increasing Zamasu’s ability to tank and making up for the lower ATK boost at start of turn.

Hell Fighter #17 is a pretty good Extreme INT unit, he shares “Fear and Faith” with Zamasu and he does also have “Fierce Battle”; in addition to this Hell Fighter #17 has a Passive that makes him self-sufficient when facing only 1 enemy, so he’s going to reduce the overall struggle for Ki.

Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) shares both “Fear and Faith” and “Dismal Future” with Zamasu, which, together with his 3 Ki support Passive, is enough for a guaranteed Super Attack; in addition to this Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé) adds a 50% DEF boost on top of Zamasu’s Passive and, by attacking before him on rotation, he can also increase his damage multiplier.

Whis is a support unit and he is one of the best on a “Realm of Gods” team; he can activate both “Godly Power” and “Cold Judgement” for Zamasu and he also adds 2 Ki and a 20% ATK and DEF boost with his Passive. “Cold Judgement” is not that common of a link at all so Whis having it is pretty valuable, it will result in a slightly higher DEF boost on top of Zamasu’s Passive.

Fusion Zamasu and Zamasu share both “Fear and Faith” and “Dismal Future” for 3 Ki and they can activate for each other “Godly Power” and “Fierce Battle”; “Godly Power” is another link that’s not so common, especially among Extreme type units, but it gives the same boost as “Fierce Battle”.

Hidden Potential

Zamasu is mainly a tank and, since he is an INT type, he already gets a natural lv.5 Dodge, which is going to help him in his role; if we want to maximize his ability to heal, then Additional Attacks will be more beneficial as they will have a 50% chance of recovering 7% more of your HP, but in terms of damage output a lv.15 Critical and lv.6 Additional build will always be superior.

Should I use Elder Kais/Grand Kais?

Zamasu does not have a farmable Super Attack, but since a base SR with the same name, [God with an Immortal Body] Zamasu, is present in the game and can result, once Z-Awakened, in a 50% chance of raising his Super Attack Level, you save Kais and use that instead; there is really no hurry in maxing out this unit’s SA since its main role is always going to be that of taking hits and mitigating damage.
