One quick look at this unit's Link Set can explain why you rarely see it on your Friend List: Buu (Kid) has no Ki links at all, meaning that without a support unit on rotation you need to rely completely on what the board offers in terms of orbs to be able to Super Attack. On the bright side when Buu (Kid) manages to Super Attack he hits extremely hard thanks to the ATK boosts he receives from his Passive and his ATK links, and on top of that he is also going to recover a percentage of your HP.

General

Buu (Kid) is the 120% leader of the Extreme INT element. On his own team with enough support units and/or orb-manipulators he can perform really well, but you really need something to increase the team's consistency.

Other teams Buu (Kid) can used on are:

  • "Majin Buu Saga"
    On this team there is not much support and Kid (Buu) is definitely not the bet option since he also does not particularly benefit from the higher boost to DEF. If you want to run Buu (Kid) on this team, you are going to have to give him a rotation with either Love of the Throne - Majin Buu (Gotenks) or Countdown to Despair - Majin Buu (Gohan) to activate most of his ATK links.
  • "Resurrected Warriors"
    Buu (Kid) can greatly benefit from the 170% boost to ATK that True Radiance of the Emperor - Golden Frieza (Angel) gives him, making his ATK skyrocket, and at least in this case there are some good options for the team in terms of Ki support. Buu (Kid) is not on the optimal version of the team because of his need for support and the competition: the team has two LR units that he can not realistically outdamage.
  • "Villains"
    This is the team on which Buu (Kid) can be more consistent without hindering the other units thanks to SSJR Goku Black's Passive that gives him 3 Ki, but even here he's not the best pick since his healing mechanic is actually counterproductive. On this team Buu (Kid) can be either a floater or a unit on a main rotation, but putting him on the team leaves out his PHY counterpart and his 50% support Passive to ATK and DEF.

Super Attack

As I mentioned, Buu (Kid)'s Super Attack has a healing mechanic, recovering 12% of your overall health. That's a good percentage of you health recovered and it will actually be doubled if Buu (Kid) gets an additional Super Attack, but it's counterproductive most of the times because this unit's strongest link is "Big Bad Bosses", a link that is active only when your HP are below 80%: Buu (Kid)'s healing mechanic can easily kick you out of that range and greatly decrease the damage output of the whole rotation.

Leader Skill

Buu (Kid) is the 120% Extreme INT leader, an element that doesn’t lack good units, but definitely needs a lot of support to work properly.

Passive Skill

Buu (Kid) gets a 100% ATK boost unconditionally and an additional 70% if your HP are above 30%, a pretty easy threshold to stay above, this makes him one of the hardest hitters of his generation.

Link Skill

"Big Bad Bosses", "Fierce Battle", "Majin", "Brutal Beatdown" and "The Wall Standing Tall" are all great ATK links for an Extreme INT unit, but they definitely don't make up for the lack of Ki links: "More than Meets the Eye" and "Infinite Regeneration" are pretty much useless and could have easily been substituted for something else that would have made more consistent and possibly more popular, instead Buu (Kid) ended up being a poorly designed unit that is rarely used.

These two units activate for each other pretty much every link adding from 50 to 75% more ATK on top of Buu (Kid) 100-170% ATK boost from his Passive. The numbers are crazy, but Majin Buu (South Supreme Kai) adds no Ki to the rotation.

Sharing pretty much all relevant links, namely "Big Bad Bosses", "Majin", "The Wall Standing Tall" and "Fierce Battle", with the exclusion of only "Brutal Beatdown", adds up to 40-65% more ATK and makes Majin Buu (Gohan) the second best partner for Buu (Kid). Again this unit adds no Ki to the rotation and without any kind of support will struggle to Super Attack too since his only Ki link is "Shocking Speed".
Advancing Ambition Vegeta

This Vegeta is the 40% support unit for the Extreme INT element, he is much needed on the team to give it some consistency. Adding 3 Ki, 50-75% ATK and 40-65% DEF, Advancing Ambition - Vegeta is without a doubt the best support unit for Buu (Kid). Since "Resurrected Warriors" is filled with Extreme INT units, this Vegeta can be used successfully even on that team.

Turles gives 3 Ki and 20% ATK to all allies when the HP are 50% or above, a reasonable threshold on a team with so much healing going on. Activating "Big Bad Bosses" but lacking "Fierce Battle", Turles can give up to 45% ATK to Buu (Kid) and a good amount of Ki.

Hidden Potential

While the idea of putting Additionals into this unit may seem appealing because of the healing mechanic that Buu (Kid) Super Attack has, I would advise to avoid them: healing more because of an additional attack and being kicked out of "Big Bad Bosses"'s range of HP will greatly decrease your damage output. Criticals and even Dodges, since Buu (Kid) gets no DEF increase from his Passive, with little to no investment in Additionals is the best build for this unit.

Should I use Elder Kais/Grand Kais?

While not being exactly farmable, SR Transforming Power - Majin Buu (South Supreme Kai) can be dokkan awakened with 21 medals from Buu (Kid)'s event into Sluggish Battle Form - Buu (Kid) and be used to raise Transcendent Majin - Buu (Kid)'s Super Attack. The grind is not that long or difficult and you are likely to pull at least a few copies of this SR unit, you can save a few Kais.
