[Heros Mission] Tapion is a very good unit, he has a built-in Critical and he is capable of tanking very well thanks to the combination of the DEF boost he receives from his Passive and the ATK lowering he inflicts upon Super Attack; Tapion is also an orb-changer and his Super Attack is completely farmable.
Pros
Built-in Critical Good tank Orb-changer Farmable SA
Tapion is a great choice as a floater on this team, his orb-changing Passive generates rainbow Ki spheres that [Astounding Transformation] Super Saiyan 3 Goku (Angel) can use to boost his ATK, he can activate Experienced Fighters for [Golden Fist] SS3 Goku and he can greatly help out in Super Battle Road with his good defense and ATK lowering. Is Tapion a unit you should always bring on this team? No, if you have SS3 Goku it would be better to have only Over in a Flash units, but even in that case Tapion can be useful: his orb-changing Passive opens paths, making it easier for the LR to get a lot of Ki at once.
"Resurrected Warriors"
Tapion's orb-changing mechanic can be quite useful on this team that lacks synergy, he will make it easier to Super Attack consistently; in addition to this Tapion does have "Revival" to link with the Leader of the team and Galactic Invasion Full Power Boujack (Galactic Warriors). If you lack units for this team, Tapion can be a very good floater; under [Emperors True Splendor] Golden Frieza (Angel)'s Leader Skill he is an excellent tank.
Super ATK
Tapion's Super Attack causes supreme damage and lowers the enemy's ATK by 20%, very good and not so common among good Super type units; his 12 Ki multiplier is 145%, above average.
Tapion receive an 80% boost to both ATK and DEF at start of turn, which is respectable, and a 30% chance to perform a Critical; so far we have only two other units that can do this. Tapion is also a very good orb-changer, changing STR Ki spheres into rainbow ones; the difference between this and other types of orb-changing Passive is that this one opens up paths, whereas the others close them.
Link Skill
Links are not that great, the only notable ones are Revival for Ki, that can actually see some usage on both Super TEQ and Resurrected Warriors, and Experienced Fighters for Super TEQ; Tapion does also get Fierce Battle, which is good. "Hero", "Rival Duo" and Brainiacs are all very niche links and are unlikely to be active.
These two units share “Revival” for 2 Ki and “Fierce Battle” for an additional 15% ATK; SS3 Goku (Angel) loves to be have Tapion on rotation because he generates rainbow Ki spheres that he can use to boost his ATK.
Paikuhan and Tapion do not share any Ki link, but they can activate a lot of links for each other and they both have an ATK lowering mechanic upon Super Attack; “Experienced Fighters”, “Rival Duo”, “Brainiacs” and “Fierce Battle” add up to a 45% ATK boost and 10% more DEF.
Bulma and Tapion can activate both “Brainiacs” and “Rival Duo” for each other; in addition to this Bulma (Youth)’s healing mechanic depends on how many rainbow Ki spheres she collects. It’s still not particularly much in terms of HP recovered since it’s a fixed amount, 7777, but having them both on the team is still going to make a bit of a difference.
Tapion and Tapion (Hirudegarn) are the best linking partners for each other; sharing “Revival” for 2 Ki and activating for each other “Brainiacs”, “Hero”, “Rival Duo”, “Experienced Fighters” and “Fierce Battle” for 45% ATK and 30% DEF. Both units are tanks and both of them lower the enemy’s ATK upon Super Attack.
Hidden Potential
While it’s true that Tapion gets a chance to perform a Critical from his Passive just like [Second Super Saiyan] Super Saiyan Trunks (Teen), that chance is not as high as the one he would get from his Potential System being a TEQ Type; the ideal build would probably be lv.15 Additional and lv.11 Critical. The Potential System Critical and the one coming from the Passive do not stack together.
Should I use Elder Kais/Grand Kais?
Tapion has a completely farmable Super Attack, you can use [Timbre of Courage] Tapion to raise his Super Attack Level; the unit drops as a base SSR, making it possible to have a 100% success rate.
